San Francisco: May 21st Defense Fund, [1979]. Single leaf folded to form 2 pp pamphlet.

A superbly illustrated incendiary pamphlet produced to raise money for the bail fund after the White Night uprising, and an extraordinary primary source document from the biggest gay rebellion since Stonewall.

On May 21, 1979, Dan White was received a sentence of voluntary manslaughter for his
assasination of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk, one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States. This was the lightest possible sentencing White could have received and he ended up serving five years for the two murders. The night of the announcement, San Francisco erupted in uprising and several police cars burned, as pictured.

One copy on OCLC as of October 2022. Small bump to top right corner; else near fine.
